My Skirt Design in the Making
Below the images you can see are of my under-skirt in the making from my chosen design posted earlier. I will re-post these again at the end of this blog with my finished skirt. Also the images shown are front back and Side reading from left to right:
I have not cut to right lengh yet as this will be done at a later stage.
The fabric i have chosen is of medium weight. This is to create a solid enough structure to carry the weight of the later attached over lying layers, and allowing them to free and firmly stand out.
Second Layer: Creating Shibori on the Stand. This i have done by laying the fabric over small rolled up balls of wadding and wrapping thread around them to hold them in place. Because my front and back of my skirt design are similar my shibori will be too. The images below shown are front, back, right Side and left Side, reading from left to right:
Attaching the Two Layers: Shibori layer i have gathered at the top and machine sewn to under-skirt. The images below shown are front, back, right Side and left Side, reading from left to right:
Waist Band Pined to Skirt. The images below shown are front, back, right Side and left Side, reading from left to right:
waist band and zip attached and under-skirt cut to the right length, so it can't be seen. The images below shown are front, back, right Side and left Side, reading from left to right:
Skirt in-side-out to show under-skirt differing length. The images below shown are front, back, right Side and left Side, reading from left to right:
Seen in images are pieces i have created spiraling curls and loose curls to attach onto my skirt being its finial layer:
Final set of images show my finished skirt next to my design drawing. The images shown run in the same way as previously, front, back, left Side and right Side, reading from left to right with the added drawing of my initial design:
