SCULPTURE: WE R ALL RESPONSIBLE

Sculpture: Condensing

From the piece of work below in fig.1 i imploded all the object material with fierce actions of squeezing and crushing and tieing inplace with wires, in the creation of the ' The Cacoon', as can be seen in fig.2 and fig.3.

SCULPTURE: Taking Flight

Taking Flight through growth and suspension of materials.
Below are images of my step by step process of how my sculpture piece has evolved, through adding and suspending materials
Added: cut decorative brown cardboard, light white paper and a piece of  string painted red in places, seen at top of image.

Added: two pieces of brown cardboard perpendicularly attached together to the decorative brown cardboard.

Added two black plastic bags  unopened.

Image from another angle.
Added: two polistiring cups, and two pieces of silver reflective insulator. Both attached together and hanging one below the other and hanging from the black plastic bags.

capturing the contrast of light and shade, the flat wall and the crinkled materials

Previous each of the materials i had pined to the wall together. What i have done here is taken the pins out and attached each piece to there surrounding pieces.
Here i have moved the piece out from the wall, suspending it  from wire attached to the pipes above.
Moving materials outward.
Light shining on the Materials creating shadows I feel are ascetically pleasing to the eye.

Added polystyrene cups seen in the background.

The video below captures the movement within the piece.

SCULPTURE: Using the Ready-Made

By using everyday materials I am creating art from already made materials or 'ready-made' materials, which is what Marcel Duchamp called them. Marcel Duchamp arguably the most influential development on artist creative process of what it is today. For him it was about the placing of a ready-made object which made it art. Example of that is Duchamp piece of art called 'The Fountain' as seen below. Which is a Urinal which he place in a Gallery on show. I have stolen his idea which you can see in my next blog.

SCULPTURE: CRINKLING Layout and Spacing

looking at visual communication and presentation and the importance of layout and spacing. The overall purpose behind the layout and spacing is to clearly communicate information to the onlooker..It seems to be a combination of  techniques to produce a balanced focused and symmetrical final result.  Layout spacing and colour are all important consideration for maximum visual impact. Small changes can radically alter the look and feel of an art piece as can be seen between the images in fig.1 and fig.2 below.
In fig.1 I have placed each piece of crinkled material individually and together. I did this  by separating them with space and placing them together on the same wall. looking at the pieces together as a whole they are placed with equal balance so the eye flows easily from one object to the next so that the viewer can gain maximum focus of each individual piece.
In Fig 2 i have used the same materials as fig.1 but i have arranged them differently by bringing them together, and still taking into account colour balance and spacing, or lack of it.

Fig. 2 Stroking the Cat
Something else i was looking at was a title, and how it can change our perspective of an artwork. The title came from the name of the chapter of the torn out pages from a book. I feel as if it is apt in that it expresses my relation to cats and the actions needed in stroking a cat.
